Demand Accountability and Stricter Laws for Child Abuse Cases

The Issue

I am a parent who has experienced the heartbreak and frustration of trying to protect my child within the current system. Despite accumulating evidence, I have been told time and again that "there just isn't enough," "your child is too young to talk," or "kids lie." This is a common story for many parents in Harrisburg, PA, and across the country. It's time we demand change.

Our petition calls for more accountability from all state/federal officials involved in determining the best interest of a child during custody disputes or investigating cases of child abuse. This includes Judges, Children and Youth case workers, Guardian Ad Lietm, police investigators - anyone who has the final say over what happens to our children, be held liable if they make wrong decisions.

We also urge lawmakers to enact stricter laws on Child Abuse. The definition of what constitutes child abuse needs clarity so that no incident goes unnoticed or unreported. Furthermore, those found guilty must face harsher punishments as a deterrent against such heinous crimes.

According to data from Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (2019), there were 4,865 substantiated reports of child abuse statewide - an alarming number that underscores the urgency with which we need these reforms. The system is too flawed and we demand change!

This fight is personal for me but it affects us all. Our children are our future; their safety should be paramount in any situation. We owe it to them – and ourselves – to ensure they grow up in safe environments where their voices are heard and valued.

Please sign this petition today; let's demand better protection for our children together!

The change begins with you. We can't expect results, if we all don't use our voice to protect these children. I as a parent, currently dealing with a high conflict custody case, witness the failure within the system. I as a parent have used my voice in advocating for my child, but it still goes unheard. My child has used their voice. And it still goes unheard. So please. Allow these children to have rights. Share this petition with your friends and families, and keep sharing. Keep fighting for these babies!
