As a concerned parent in Rowan County, NC, USA, I am calling for immediate action against the Department of Social Services (DSS) due to their arbitrary and unjust actions. This past Tuesday, my 5-month-old daughter who has been diagnosed with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE), a disability that can affect her weight among other things, lost a few pounds. Instead of understanding her condition and providing support, the DSS decided to snatch my child from me.

This is not just about my family; it's about all families in Rowan County who have experienced similar situations. It's about holding our institutions accountable for their actions and ensuring they act in the best interest of our children. According to data from Child Welfare Information Gateway, an estimated 678,000 children were victims of abuse or neglect nationwide in 2018 alone – many cases being mishandled by local authorities like ours.

We need your help to bring justice not only for my daughter but also for all children affected by such unprofessional conduct. We demand an immediate investigation into this matter and call on the local government to implement necessary reforms within DSS.
