As a resident of Boones Mill, Virginia, I have personally experienced multiple power outages in the past month alone, a situation that only seems to worsen over time. The local power company, Appalachian Power, has been barely maintaining its infrastructure, not taking appropriate preventative measures, such as trimming trees away from power lines. This lack of care has resulted in multiple weeks-long power outages and in some instances, even left trees lying dangerously on live power lines.

This situation not only breeds inconvenience but poses significant safety risks for the entire state of Virginia. The negligence demonstrated by Appalachian Power is unacceptable and the impacts are catastrophic. The residents of Virginia deserve more from their power company and simply cannot continue to bear the brunt of Appalachian Power's incompetence.

The state of Virginia has the right to reliable, safe, and efficient power supply. As such, this petition calls for holding Appalachian Power to account for their negligent operations and invites other potential companies to restore our power services. It's time for Appalachian Power to step up and take responsibility for their actions, or make way for others who will.
