Growing up in an America that prided itself on its democratic values, I find it disheartening to see the shift in our political climate. Yet, this is a reality we cannot turn a blind eye to. There's no denying that the current administration's policies have sparked heated debates and polarized our society. Our democracy, as we know it, is walking a thin line, a cause for concern that impacts my personal future and that of all American citizens.

It is therefore crucial for us to demand a thorough review of the status quo. The Pew Research Center, in its 2019 study, showed a 9% increase in negative ratings for America, post the 2016 elections. This data illustrates international disapproval at our political handling, reflecting a sentiment shared by many within our borders. The introduction of policies that have increasingly shown disregard for humanitarian values, further undermines the principles upon which our country stands.

As someone who's starting college in August 2025, I fear for my future in this country: I fear for the future of my neices, my sisters, my friends, my family, my community, and my country. Time and time again the need for change arises, this is that time.

The time for action is now, as we seek to navigate our way back to the principles of proper democracy. Call for a reinstatement of transparency, sane leadership, and actions that aim to benefit the American people. Our goal is to seek an administration that truly reflects the values of its citizens. Our aim is to ensure that the ideals of freedom, justice, and democracy are not just words echoed without substance, but principles embedded in the very fabric of our political system. 

To protect our future, to safeguard the American Dream, we must unite our voices.
