I am compelled to address a personal and national concern pertaining to the candidacy of Raila Odinga for the chair of the African Union Commission (AUC). It's distressing to witness how Odinga uses our difficulties to further his own ambitions, seemingly valuing personal gain over our collective welfare.

As a lifelong supporter of democratic transparency and accountability, it is deeply troubling to see a potential AUC Chair exploit his position for personal gain. This is a recurring pattern with Odinga, who has a history of capitalizing on the oppression of the vulnerable for political advantage. Mr. Odinga always finds a way of using innocent citizens, protesting for good governance, to negotiate for personal favors. His recent actions of taking advantage of the young people's quest for better leadership and governance policies to secure a share of government appointments for his friends is the latest and clearest testament to his self-serving politics. We need a leader who will stand with the people during their trials and tribulations, not one who merely views these struggles as opportunities for self-advancement.

We therefore respectfully request the African Union (AU) to investigate this matter thoroughly. If found to be valid, the result of the investigation should lead to the revision of Odinga's application to contest the position of AUC Chair. With such a high-profile role at stake, it is imperative that those selected to leadership positions have the best interests of the people and the country at heart. We yearn for a leader who is dedicated to fighting for justice, equality, and progress, rather than someone absorbed by self-interest.
