The issue

The undersigned  wish to make the Minster for Local Government aware of the disgraceful condition of our roads and other basic services in the Clarence Valley. While precious  council funds are being misdirected towards projects of nominal value  our basic infrastructure is left to crumble. Our voices, as citizens, have fallen on deaf ears while our council prioritised the $30M Aquatic Centre designed for the minuscule population of Grafton swimmers. To make matters worse, the allocation of funds for Yamba's inaccessible Community Centre and Flood evacuation hub , which nobody can  access in a flood because there is no road above water, only magnifies the council’s lack of foresight in their decision-making.

The mismanagement of the council isn’t confined to these projects. They extended NO helpful hand to our bushfire victims, promising  but not delivering any  consolation from the damages suffered. Yet, the state-aid fund, ostensibly for the victims, was expended elsewhere, leaving our victims without the help they were promised. This misdirection of resources, lack of transparency, and neglect confirm that the Clarence Valley Council is not acting in its constituents' best interests. and is unfit to remain as it is.

The New South Wales State Government can remedy our current situation by holding the council accountable for their actions. Our collective resolution is to implore the NSW State Government to place the Clarence Valley Council under administration, sack the General Manager, and call for an immediate council election. This call for change embodies our right to a council that faithfully serves its community, provides transparency, and focuses its resources on projects that improve our quality of life.
