As someone deeply moved by the tragic case of Charlene Downes, I am compelled to take action. In 2019, I watched a documentary on YouTube titled "The Murder of Charlene Downes". The shocking failings in her case led me to establish a Facebook group that has since evolved into a campaign for justice.

Charlene was let down by those who were supposed to protect her - the police, social services and even those around her. This is not just about one girl's tragedy; it highlights an alarming issue in Blackpool of child sexual abuse.

Charlene's case is emblematic of systemic failures within our institutions. It's been over 20 years since she disappeared, yet there has been no conviction. We need answers and accountability.

We are calling upon the government to initiate a public inquiry into Charlene's case and address the broader issue of child sexual abuse in Blackpool. This will help prevent such tragedies from happening again and ensure that every child receives the protection they deserve.
