I am a victim of a gross miscarriage of justice. I am currently wrongfully incarcerated at Lexington County Detention Center in Lexington, SC. The alleged victim in this case has a history of attacking people. His MO is busting out their car windows and destroying property.  Joshua D Shumpert has done attacked not only his 64yr old father, but others as well. Zero punishment, very few actual arrests. Favors were running out in the town, and he moved to Swansea SC recently. Since our incident he has been charged in 12/2023 with pointing and presenting a firearm.  He pulled his gun on a guy, thank God it was in front of Witnesses, or the victim in that case would be sitting in here with me, or worse. He also busted out a guys windshield in 3/2024. He was arrested, but that charge has disappeared. I was told to come to his property, for what I thought was payment for a job I did for him. He started in on me and we did have a few words. He swung a weapon at me as I was going to ny car. I did throw up my arm to block the blow. He then used that weapon to bust my window out and tried to drag me out my car, as I was trying to get him off of me and out of my car. I did cut him in self defense at that time. He then retrieved a firearm and shot into my vehicle as I was fleeing for my life. Him shooting into my car as I was leaving is against the law in many states. I called 911 reported the incident and told them I would be at home waiting to speak to LE. They did not come after waiting over two hours, I went to a friend's house. They to this day, have never asked me my side. When I found out I had a warrant, I turned myself in. The warrant is attempted murder and using a weapon in a violent crime.  Chaos started when a Swansea Police Officer, rather than conducting a proper investigation he ignored evidence that would confirm my side, he left out pictures from the scene that would further be in my favor. He came to bond court and lied to sway the Judge to deny my bond.  You can see the partner of alleged victim Cheynne Knight/Shumpert pull a "possible" "assumed" bribe from her pants and plant it in officer's pocket. Guess that helps explain how he seems to get away with crimes without punishment. In the bodycam footage, you can hear and see the officer lie about the injuries to the "victim" and deatils of the incident in order to get these charges to the most severe charges there could be. The officers supervisor questioned, by phone,  these charges. That is when he lied to get the most severe charges he could. Time for Mr.J Shumpert to tell the truth!! While I too have a past that I am not proud of, anything I have ever done wrong. I pled guilty and took my punishment. I should not be punished for self defense because I have a past. Im begging for just an honest investigation from those that are unbiased and took and believe in the ethical oath they took. I have had someone create this petition and a YouTube channel as well as a FB page under Sc voices of the unheard where you can see the bodycam videos yourself as well as things this man has been able to get by with. Officer Mouser nor Cheif Williams is at SPD any longer, I wonder why they left so suddenly. This kind of misconduct and disregard for due process is not acceptable in any society that believes in the rule of law.

My ask is simple: That SC SLED 803-737-9000, Lexington County Sheriff's Department 803-785-8230, Swansea, SC Mayors office 803-568-2835, and Lexington County Solicitors Office 803-785-8352 carry out a thorough and unbiased investigation into my case. State V Bryan Swann. It is their ethical and legal obligation to ensure that every individual is afforded a fair trial and is not a victim of outrageous misconduct by those in power.
