This petition is personal to me because I have witnessed firsthand how young people are being forced to leave our beautiful nation due to exorbitant housing costs. It breaks my heart to see talented individuals leaving their families, friends, and communities behind simply because they cannot afford to rent or buy a property here in Ireland.

The housing crisis in Ireland has reached alarming levels. According to reliable sources such as The Irish Times and The Central Statistics Office (CSO), rental prices have skyrocketed by over 50% in some areas over the past decade. Meanwhile, wages have failed to keep pace with this rapid increase, making it nearly impossible for young people  to secure stable accommodation. I myself am currently in emergency accommodation and the chances of me securing a home, social or otherwise are slim to none.

Furthermore, home ownership rates among young adults have plummeted significantly. A report from Eurostat reveals that only 25% of Irish citizens aged between 25-34 own their homes compared with an EU average of 46%. This statistic highlights how our current government's policies are failing us when it comes to providing affordable housing options for our generation.

But it's not just the housing crisis that demands urgent attention; there are numerous other issues where this government has fallen short:

1. Healthcare: Our healthcare system is under immense strain with long waiting lists and inadequate resources.
2. Education: Funding cuts have resulted in overcrowded classrooms and limited opportunities for students.
3. Climate Change: Despite international commitments, Ireland continues lagging behind on climate action targets.
4. Corruption: Scandals involving politicians undermine public trust and erode confidence in our democracy.

We deserve better! We need a government that prioritizes the needs and aspirations of its people, a government that listens to our concerns and takes decisive action to address them. It is time for change!
