My name is Ashley and I am a victim of Corey Jackson's multiple crimes. For months, he abused me. While I was recovering from hip surgery, he almost took my life. Despite the severity of his actions, Corey has been sentenced to only 5 years in prison - a punishment that doesn't reflect the gravity of his crimes.

Iowa's average sentence for assault causing serious injury is up to 5 years (source: Iowa Code Section 708.2A). However, considering the multiple offenses committed by Corey Jackson including endangering my life while I was in a vulnerable state due to medical recovery, this sentence seems inadequate.

The justice system should serve as a deterrent for such violent acts and ensure that perpetrators face consequences proportionate to their actions. It is crucial that we address this issue not just for me but also for all victims who have suffered at the hands of such individuals.

We urge the Iowa judicial system to reconsider its decision and impose stricter charges on Corey Jackson commensurate with his crimes. This will send out a strong message that violence and abuse are unacceptable in our society and will be dealt with sternly.
