We've made great strides in emoji representation lately. The upcoming 2020 emoji update includes a ninja, a chef's kiss, boba tea, and a pair of lungs among others. 2019 saw the addition of a Hindu temple, a flamingo, and more. However, we believe that there is something missing: the crying clown emoji. 

It's no secret that we are in unprecedented times. With the novel coronavirus, social unrest, and the fight for racial equality across the board, many of us are experiencing greater levels of stress than ever before. And we need a way to express that. Introducing - the crying clown emoji. 

The crying clown is the only emoji that will be fully capable of expressing the complex feelings of 2020; emotions that are difficult to even verbalize. The emoji takes the concept of crying while laughing one step further: feeling like a clown for crying because at this point, we should know better.
