In June 2022 the Newburgh Board Of Education adopted a new cell phone policy. (policy 5695) 

The enforcement of this policy at Newburgh Free Academy campuses is unreasonable as it prohibits electronic device usage during non instructional times such as during lunch periods, passing periods, studyhall periods, and dismissal. 

This is unjustified as these periods during the day are times where a student does not receive any instructional content, making an argument that the enforcement of the policy is necessary as a means to prevent distractions to be untrue 

We sign this petition to demand that Newburgh Free Academy / The Board Of Education stop/amend policy to no longer enforce the disuse of electronic devices during non instructional periods.
