Demand a Bipartisan Coalition to Bring Utility Price Relief to Residents of NJ

Demand a Bipartisan Coalition to Bring Utility Price Relief to Residents of NJ
The Issue
We, the people of New Jersey are demanding a bipartisan coalition to address the insane rate hikes approved by the BPU. An immediate investigation and plan for remediation and relief should be drafted by the legislative body. We also demand each and every lawmaker commit to NOT taking a penny from energy companies.
Dear Members of the New Jersey Legislature,
Enough is enough.
Yet again, the Board of Public Utilities has rubber-stamped a disgraceful 17% rate hike on the people of this state. Just last summer, we were force-fed the blatant lie that soaring electric bills were due to hot weather. I did the research. I crunched the numbers. And I proved it was nothing more than a cover for corporate greed. Now, here we are again—the same scam, the same corruption, the same inaction from the people elected to protect us.
Do you understand what this means?
People who are already drowning in debt will be pushed over the edge. Small businesses—already struggling—will close their doors. Families will have to choose between keeping the lights on and putting food on the table. The ripple effect will devastate our entire economy.
And what do we get from our leaders? Social media grandstanding, partisan finger-pointing, and empty rhetoric. That is unacceptable.
This is NOT a partisan issue. This is NOT about Democrats or Republicans. This is about basic survival. I've been working very closely with Congressman Van Drew's office and they've been great and have done what they have the power to do - but this is a state issue where remediation falls on the shoulders of our STATE legislators.
You were elected to serve the people—not Exelon, not Atlantic City Electric, not party bosses, and certainly not corporate donors. Yet despite 120 legislators in Trenton, we still can’t get a simple majority to say, “Enough is enough” and act on behalf of the people? That is beyond disgraceful—it is a complete failure of leadership.
Let’s get straight to it:
What is being done RIGHT NOW to lower these rates?
How do we ensure that this issue is addressed regardless of who is in office?
Why are we not working across party lines for real solutions instead of wasting time with the blame game?
Beyond immediate relief, I want to see a long-term energy plan that puts people first:
A diversified energy portfolio—nuclear, wind, hydro—whatever it takes to create stability and prevent future manufactured crises.
An end to cost-shifting, where private AI data centers drive up demand while everyday ratepayers foot the bill.
A commitment from every legislator to refuse campaign donations from Exelon, Atlantic City Electric, and any other energy corporation that seeks to buy influence.
Until these things happen, everything else is just lip service.
And let me be crystal clear—I will be watching every single one of you.
We can do this the easy way—where we come together, put aside party politics, and enact a common-sense solution that protects the people of New Jersey.
Or we can do this the hard way—where your inaction forces me to dedicate as much time as possible to amplifying the voices of candidates who actually have a plan.
I will not forget where each of you stands. Neither will the people of New Jersey.
I expect real action. And I expect answers from our legislators with specific details—not empty promises, but tangible steps—on what they are doing to fix this.
The people are watching. They are asking you to do your jobs.
I have a relationship with many of you and know that there are some genuine, good people in this body that want to do the right thing. Some of you have already started the process and for that, I am eternally grateful. My message is for the other folks.
Let's do what's right and help as many people as possible. It is a win for everyone involved.
