Dell: Fix the hinge design flaw with the new G3 3590 laptops.

The Issue

Note: This petition is purely to act as a "Plan B" in case the class action lawsuit fails.

Using the Dell G3 15 3590 laptop under normal conditions over time, your laptop's hinge will most likely become dislodged in less than a year of ownership.

One day you close or open your laptop lid, and you hear a loud "plastic crack" sound. After you hear this sound, you may notice that screws that were inside the lid pop out. These were the plastic threaded inserts that were inside the front display cover getting dislodged. When this occurs, a minimum of three screws will become dislodged, rendering the device useless as a "laptop". Consumers will be left with a laptop lid that is unable to support itself.

Most of the laptops will suffer this issue within days after the 1-year warranty period expires! The number of reports only increases every day. Since the launch of the Dell G3 15 3590 in 2019, Dell has failed to acknowledge this hinge issue or provide any support for consumers that have this same issue.

We kindly ask Dell to launch an extended warranty program addressed to this issue as soon as possible. The new display assembly or hinge that it would be replaced with must have been improved in one way or another to prevent this same issue from occurring again. We would like for a detailed explanation as to how the new replacement will be improved along with images of improved parts. The small amount of Dell customers whose G3 laptop hinge broke during the warranty period were able to send in the laptop for a repair only to have it break 2 months after the repair was done. In most cases, those 2 months were enough for the warranty period to expire.
