This petition is to show support and to prove that there is a genuine local need for a concrete skatepark in Delhi, the National Capital Of India. 

We, the ever-growing Delhi Skateboarding Community of over 400 people and more coming together for more than a decade, request the Delhi government to initiate the Skatepark Project. In light of the recent events, witnessing police abuse against skateboarders in Delhi, we feel the need for a safe space to practice our sport. 

With most of the cities in India having multiple community skateparks, we feel it’s high time for Delhi to have its first one. Hundreds of skaters across Delhi, assemble in the Safdarjung district to skate, learn and grow together. The new skatepark will be a free-to-use, safe, inclusive, and family-oriented sports facility for users of all ages. Professionally designed and constructed by a company selected by the 'Delhi Skateboarding Community' with design input from local skatepark users.

Skateparks are proven to increase health, well-being, and community cohesion whilst reducing social exclusion and anti-social behavior. The skate park will not only benefit skatepark users, but will also enhance the capital and will be an asset to the whole community. 

We’re happy to meet the concerned authorities in person, and in time collect hundreds of contacts supporting our cause to give you a larger picture of what we truly believe in, and to provide them with honest background, the scope of work, location, and areas of progress.

We hope this can accelerate the commencement of Delhi’s First Community Skatepark Project & with it, awareness about the Olympic-level sport that’s uplifting lives across the globe, especially in India. We have over 200 signatures already. Here's to going countless!
