Delay Superintendent Geddis' Severance Pay Until Full Investigation Ensues

The Issue

I am a D118 parent, deeply concerned about the absence of our Superintendent’s physical presence from our district for most of the academic year 2024-2025.  Students, support staff, administrators and teachers felt the implications of Dr. Alicia Geddis' extended absence directly.  Even if you do not have family attending or working in the school district, as a taxpayer, it should resonate with you as a matter of financial importance, Danville IL, as half of your annual real estate taxes fund the D118 base.

Rather than signing a severance agreement that the board’s attorney advised AGAINST prior to the April 9, 2025 BOE meeting and paying an undisclosed and seemingly UNKNOWN dollar amount per current board members, I urge that such action for Dr. Alicia Geddis, currently on paid administrative leave, be delayed until a thorough investigation is conducted.  It is crucial to determine if there was any breach of contract during her four-month absence from her office in Danville.  Once the investigation confirms whether or not there was a breach, a clear dollar amount needs to be disclosed to the public by the BOE, taking into account TRS penalties and all other aspects of the severance agreement.  This process will ensure transparency, fair practice, and at the same time uphold our responsibility towards the integrity of our schooling system as well as responsible use of taxpayer's money.

Please sign this petition to urge a local court to delay the severance payment and the district to conduct an inclusive investigation.
