The Issue

Petition to the Fruitland Baptist Bible College Advisory Committee:

As alumni, friends, and supporters of Fruitland Baptist Bible College, we express our deep love and gratitude for an institution that has profoundly shaped countless lives for the glory of God.

Founded in 1946 by the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Fruitland has faithfully trained men and women for gospel ministry for nearly eight decades. Its mission has always been clear: to equip servant leaders who are grounded in Scripture and passionate about making Christ known. From its earliest days, the heartbeat and passion of Fruitland has been preaching—Gospel-centered, expository preaching that proclaims the authority of God’s Word and the power of the cross.

Through the years, thousands of pastors, missionaries, worship leaders, and teachers have been sent out from Fruitland to serve across North America and around the world. They carry with them the same passion that has long defined Fruitland: a commitment to faithful exposition, Christ-centered ministry, and a deep love for the local church.

What makes Fruitland unique is not merely its affordability or location, but its experience—an experience that has shaped and molded generations of students. Within its close-knit fellowship, professors personally invest in the spiritual and practical growth of each student. Through prayer, study, and shared calling, lives are transformed, character is formed, and lifelong friendships are built. The Fruitland experience is not an accessory to its mission—it is vital to it.Fruitland is not just a college; it is a family. Its value cannot be measured by enrollment numbers or financial figures, but by the eternal fruit produced through lives surrendered to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

In light of the recent recommendations from the Advisory Team that could affect the future of this beloved institution, we, the undersigned alumni and supporters, humbly and respectfully request that the committee delay any final recommendations or decisions for a period of three years. This time would allow for collective prayer, renewed financial support, and collaboration among alumni, churches, and partners to address the challenges before us.

Fruitland’s ministry is far from over. As Scripture reminds us, “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). We firmly believe that God is not finished with Fruitland Baptist Bible College, and that together we can ensure its mission continues for generations to come.

May every decision made be guided by wisdom, love, and a shared desire to further the Kingdom of God through the faithful teaching and preaching of His Word.

Together, let us stand for Fruitland—its history, its mission, its experience, and its eternal impact.

In Christ,

-Greg Neely, Fruitland Baptist Bible College Alumni President

-Caleb Poole, Fruitland Baptist Bible College Alumni Vice-President
