Bring Del Taco Back to Texas!

Bring Del Taco Back to Texas!
The Issue
In 2010 Del Taco announced it's campaign to expand to the Great State of Texas with ambitions of bringing unfreshing believable food to the Lone Star State. Del Taco delivered on its promise and opened its first restaurant in the Dallas metropolitan area in fall of 2010. After expanding to 12 additional stores, the Lone Star State did not perform as well as expected and the company announced in 2015 that they would begin closing 12 of their American-style Mexican cuisine restaurant locations. Sadly, the final restaurant ultimately met the same fate in 2017.
Del Taco's concession to Tex-Mex may have been premature, however. Data shows that since Del Taco closed its doors in Texas, the rate at which Californians are relocating to the state has grown exponentially. In 2018, there was an estimated 36.4% increase in migrants from Del Taco's home in the Golden State with 86,164 people. Since 2018, that rate has continued to increase, not only from California, but from other Del Taco-loving states as well. With Californians flocking to Texas in record numbers, there is undoubtedly a need to re-explore a largely unsaturated market.
