Defund colonial wars: We will not be complicit

Defund colonial wars: We will not be complicit

The Issue

We must defund every colonial war to honor Aaron Bushnell's memory. Every tax payer of every country that is supporting this war is complicit. Every tax payer of every country that supports any war is complicit. Every war is a war on innocent children. We need a conscientious objection clause so our tax dollars are not complicit to genocide and murder. Colonial borders and national ideologies and flags are not more important than human life. We should be able to choose restorative justice as the way our tax dollars are spent. May Aaron's memory inspire a revolution.

As tax day approaches across Turtle Island (colonial name: North America) and elsewhere, may we channel our grief into a collective act of protest and defund colonial wars. May we refuse to keep funding colonial wars and discriminatory government policies that perpetuate intergenerational trauma: may we consciously object and demand the option to choose where my tax dollars are spent. Aaron's courageous act demonstrates what we know: this is not a true democracy.

And may every religious leader and person of faith supporting war be revealed as a fraud or someone in need of therapy. Every religion says: love your neighbor as yourself. The rest is commentary. This war in Gaza is evil and wrong. We must unite yo reclaim the religious voice from organized hate that capitalizes on human suffering and colonial wars.

May Aaron's action lead to a Global Spring of true democracy, intergenerational healing and restorative justice. May we rise up to demand nonviolence and ceasefire. Until all are free, none are free. Join us if you refuse to be complicit.
