While we’re still waiting on TexasLand USA to show us their “plan,” there’s something real we can do right now that pushes back where it counts.

This November, we finally get a vote — not on their theme park, but on who controls the last 1% of local sales tax in unincorporated Waller County.

That penny may not sound like much, but it’s the key that determines who holds the financial power. If we don’t claim it through the County Assistance District (CAD), a private developer district like TexasLand USA’s MMD could use it to borrow millions and leverage public tax money to finance their own project — with almost no oversight.

A YES vote for the CAD keeps that penny — and the control — right here under our County Commissioners Court, where decisions are made in public, not behind closed doors.

It’s one of the few real tools we have to prohibit TexasLand USA from using local sales tax as financial bait and to protect Waller County’s future from private taxing powers.

I’ve attached a couple of short flyers that explain how it works and why this vote is so important. Please read it, share it, and encourage your neighbors to vote YES for the CAD.

Let’s keep that penny — and our power — local.
