The Issue

You ready for a reality check? There's a proposal on the table that could change how mothers are recognized in family court law across the United States. If this Bill passes, terms like "mother" and "father" will be swapped out for "gender-neutral" alternatives. So, we'd have "gestating parent" instead of "mother" and "non-gestating parent" in place of "father." Really? Who thought this was a good idea? The unique and irreplaceable bond that mothers form through the incredible process of pregnancy should not be reduced to "gestating parent."

I can't help but think this idea came from someone who doesn’t fully grasp the experiences women endure during pregnancy. The aches, pains, and all those sleepless nights? Yeah, they deserve more than a generic term. Pushing through both emotional and physical challenges of childbirth creates a profound connection that deserves respect, not a label that strips away the essence of motherhood.

This isn't just about a title; it’s about acknowledging a mother's role in shaping her child’s life from the earliest moments. The term "mother" carries with it centuries of love, sacrifice, and strength. Reducing it to a clinical term undermines what it truly means to be a mother - someone who should be honored for her unique contributions, not sidelined by politically correct language.

It's time to stand up for mothers and ensure that motherhood is acknowledged and respected in legal language. Words have power, and the way we describe motherhood should reflect its significance in the family structure. Let's keep the recognition mothers truly deserve in our legal systems.

Sign this petition to demand that the term "mother" remains in our family court's vocabulary. Let’s show support for the women who give life and nurture it with everything they have. We owe them more than a sterile label. Together, let's preserve the recognition and respect they rightfully deserve. Sign now and make your voice heard!
