Defeat Section 224 of the 2027 NDAA in Congress

Defeat Section 224 of the 2027 NDAA in Congress
The Issue
This is personal for me because I believe in transparency and accountability in how our taxpayer dollars are spent, especially when it concerns our national defense and international relations. Section 224 of the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), also known as the "United States-Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative," threatens these values by creating a pipeline of U.S. taxpayer dollars to the Israeli military. This action could potentially fund activities that some view as violations of international law, such as the alleged genocide in Gaza and Lebanon.
The relationship established by this initiative further entangles the U.S. military with the Israeli military, eroding the autonomy of our service members and aligning U.S. foreign policy even more closely with Israeli interests. This connection not only denigrates the service of our men and women in uniform but also strips American taxpayers of their say in how their money is used, particularly when it involves controversial foreign engagements.
Moreover, there is a lack of transparency and accountability in this funding, raising concerns about how these resources are being allocated. A more automatic flow of funding to the Israeli military without accountability could lead to unintended consequences and supports actions that many of us find morally and ethically troubling.
It is crucial to maintain a careful oversight of where our defense funds are directed and ensure they are not supporting activities that could be considered inhumane or illegal by international standards. We must call on our representatives to defeat Section 224 of the 2027 NDAA and ensure our defense policies reflect our values of justice, accountability, and peace.
Sign this petition to urge Congress to reject this provision and protect the integrity of our values and the rightful oversight of taxpayer dollars. Together, we can make a stand for transparency, accountability, and peace.
