Dee Dee’s Law: Stop Murderers from Profiting off Their Crimes

Dee Dee’s Law: Stop Murderers from Profiting off Their Crimes
The Issue
📋 PETITION TITLE:
Dee Dee’s Law: Stop Convicted Felons from Profiting Off Their Crimes
📌 Petition Targets:
U.S. Congress, Department of Justice, Media Platforms & Publishers
✍️ PETITION TEXT:
In 1991, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down New York’s Son of Sam Law—a law that once prevented convicted criminals from making money off the stories of their crimes. That decision opened a door for profit, not justice.
Now, that loophole is being exploited in the worst way.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard, convicted of helping orchestrate her mother’s murder, is making money off the very act that ended a life.
Books. Films. Interviews. All monetized. All legal.
Meanwhile, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard—her victim—can’t speak.
Her name is dragged, distorted, and sold for clicks.
And there is no law protecting her.
We Believe:
Murder should not be a marketing strategy
Victims deserve posthumous dignity
Families should not be silenced while killers build brands
Media platforms must be held accountable when they enable or amplify these narratives
That’s why we’re demanding the passage of Dee Dee’s Law, a federal statute that will:
✅ Prohibit convicted felons from profiting off their crimes
✅ Ban indirect profit through third parties, trusts, or symbolic royalties
✅ Protect the name, likeness, and legacy of victims
✅ Recognize “posthumous defamation” as a legal harm
✅ Empower families or certified advocates to sue on a victim’s behalf
✅ Authorize proxies when families are compromised or complicit
✅ Hold media outlets and publishers accountable for broadcasting or profiting from exploitative narratives
📣 HOW YOU CAN HELP:
📬 1. Write to Your Representatives
Urge your state and federal lawmakers to support Dee Dee’s Law. Ask them to protect victims from being rebranded by their killers.

Let the world know this isn’t justice. It’s exploitation.
🧾 3. Demand Accountability from the Media
Call out platforms, networks, and publishers who profit off false or glamorized crime stories created by convicted offenders.
🎙️ 4. Contact Journalists & Podcasters
Ask them to include factual disclaimers when giving airtime to felons telling their own stories. Encourage them to speak to both sides.
📣 5. Educate Others
Start a conversation about how media shapes truth—and how the victims’ legacies are often left out. Use this petition as a tool.
📦 6. Support Advocacy Groups
Follow, fund, or volunteer with organizations working to strengthen victim rights and ethical crime reporting.
📝 7. Build Pressure
Help organize a coordinated day of action. Host a digital event. Write an op-ed. Make noise—in honor of the silenced.
🩸 This law will not silence anyone. But it will finally protect someone who never got to speak.
Sign now. In ink. In law. In her name.
