Declare Domestic Violence as a National Emergency

The issue

Domestic violence, a painful experience that remains etched in thousands of lives across the country every day. In its various forms, domestic violence is deeply traumatic and immensely harmful, yet our society hasn't prioritised it as a matter of urgency that it, and it's victims deserve.

If acknowledged as a national emergency, it could garner the attention, resources, and efforts needed to fight this malignant social issue.

Statistics show that this is infact a national crisis.

Alarming rates of domestic violence, across all socio-economic and cultural lines, jeopardize the safety of too many and scar communities nationwide. Yet, many victims remain invisible and silent because perpetrators aren't brought to justice. By declaring domestic violence a national emergency, we can spur immediate and substantial action. It would mean high-priority funding, enhanced public awareness campaigns, more comprehensive support for victims, and a fundamental shift in how we approach this issue.

Australia NEEDS a Domestic Violence Offender Register.

Australia NEEDS tougher laws and harsher penalties for those who commit an act of Domestic Violence.

Australia NEEDS better resources and support for victim survivors.

Australia NEEDS more resources and harsher mandatory programs for all offenders to help aid in adequate rehabilitation.

Australia NEEDS to ensure offenders are NOT given bail.

Too many lives are lost and families destroyed due to domestic violence. Together, we can change this. We must protect our communities and offer support to those still trapped in cycles of violence. Join the fight against domestic violence and urge the government to declare it a national emergency.

Sign this petition to show your support. Let's make domestic violence a national concern worthy of emergency consideration.

It's time to bring about real change. You never know, one day it could be you suffering at the hands of a violent male with nowhere to turn to for help.

What if it were your Mother, Sister, Daughter or Friend? Would you want justice for them?

We want justice for all the women and children who no longer have a voice, because their voice was taken at the hands of violence. We must speak for those who no longer can!
