The Issue

We, the undersigned, urgently call on Premier David Eby and the Government of British Columbia to immediately assess the rapidly escalating wildfire crisis in the Cariboo and to declare a Provincial State of Emergency without delay if the legal criteria are met.

Communities across the Cariboo are facing severe and worsening conditions. Evacuations are underway, families are being forced from their homes with little notice, and many face uncertainty about returning. Farms, ranches, small businesses, and livelihoods are at imminent risk. Critical transportation routes are being disrupted, and access to essential services is increasingly strained. Emergency responders, First Nations, local governments, and volunteers are operating under extreme pressure in dangerous and rapidly changing conditions.

The people of the Cariboo deserve an immediate request for additional assistance from the Government of Canada, including the Canadian Armed Forces where appropriate, additional wildfire personnel, aircraft, equipment, and emergency resources needed to support communities and frontline responders

This petition is not about politics. It is about protecting people, supporting communities, and ensuring British Columbia responds to this crisis with the urgency and coordination it demands.

The people of the Cariboo are showing extraordinary resilience. We call on the Province to stand with them and act decisively to safeguard lives, homes, and the future of the region.
