Declaration of Women's Reform and Advancement

The Issue

Hello, My name is Donesha Stancil-Potts, but I am often known by my author's name, Rochelle Blaze. I am an educator, author, spiritualist, and advocate for women's rights. I am writing this Declaration in hopes that we can join together and create empowerment, while still being honest about the differences that separates us.

Visit www.xceptionalgirls.com for more about careers and STEM for girls. I am currently being harassed and blacklisted because of my advocacy with defamation and exploitation. However, I believe that young girls need a fair chance.

The Declaration of Safety, Women Reform, Equality Civility of America:

Throughout history, our nation has faced various obstacles throughout our government. Patriots fought through those challenges and worked together to establish a common ground of civility to bring us together as one nation. We did it through the American Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and other wars meant to divide and conquer us. In spite of all that, Americans proved that they could come together and win as one of the greatest nations in history.

The sacrifices of our founding fathers and indigenous ancestors have laid the foundation for our government and democracy. It was we, the people, who fought to have our rights restored and renewed by removing ourselves from our now British allies. While the problem we face today is much different, the dilemma is the same. Currently, we are facing a new enemy, one within our own government. There is a great danger in our country, and we must ensure our civil liberties and guaranteed rights are not threatened by our lax approach to handling such situations. It is my goal to bring up relevant issues that need our government's immediate attention in this Declaration of Civility. These critical issues are vital to our democracy's future.

VIII Women’s Rights and Equality

Thanks to our ancestors, we were able to triumph during the suffrage movement, become leaders and workers in our communities, and improve our importance in the world. In spite of our progress, we are still a long way from equality at work. The gender pay gap is still significant, and the doors to STEM careers are increasingly closed to women. In order to advance and innovate new projects, women need a greater role and participation in topics surrounding STEM. It is unfair that women face more hostility and discrimination when trying to advance in these areas. There is a need for more protections for women in these fields, particularly against sexual harassment. A woman should not have to feel she must be treated as a sexual object in order to obtain an opportunity. When women reject unwelcome sexual advances, their male counterparts can become brutally hostile and retaliatory. Women's careers can often be ruined by blacklisting and manipulation as a result. There should be no tolerance for any of this. Organizations that engage in sexual exploitation and harassment should be fined along with criminal sanctions if necessary.

Sex Offender Registry for Workplaces

Workplaces and organizations should have a sexual harassment tracker to alert potential employees or application candidates of sexual workplace harassment, much like sex offenders must register if convicted of sex crimes. Therefore, a registry should be established to list all lawsuits filed against workplaces for sexual harassment. As a result, when women apply for jobs, they will be aware of any potential sexual harassment energies. It is also a great way for the government and law enforcement to keep track of these incidents.

Pay Equality

When the pay gap was first introduced, men were the providers of the household and needed the money to support their families, while women were the caregivers. These dynamics, however, have changed over time. Families with single mothers as well as households with same-sex partners are becoming more prevalent. We must ensure these women are given pay raises that are aligned with their skills and experience, rather than their gender, as a result of these continuing changes. The salary scale needs to be balanced and fair. Posting actual salary figures instead of salary ranges is one way to ensure that. Having a solid salary figure ensures that everyone who applies for the job will receive the same salary. Differentiation can arise from experience and education, and it is important to emphasize these factors. In the case of a software engineer, the job description should list the annual salary as $120,000 a year instead of a pay scale of $90,000 to $120,000. If you list a salary scale, the male would be more likely to get the higher wages. If the company wishes to indicate that they are flexible in their pay ranges, they would need to indicate what qualifies a candidate for the higher pay scale, such as education, experience, or unique skills. This factor is very important.

For instance, they need to indicate that a Master's Degree or more will earn you $3000.00 or more. It is possible to say the base salary is $90,000, but if you have 5 years of experience, you can get $5000.00 more. It is essential that the issue of pay be based on a measurable and clear-cut scale, not on a personal or stereotypical one.

Voyeurism and Cybercrimes

Cybercrimes of sexual exploitation and voyeurism are on the rise, especially with the development of artificial intelligence (AI). Women are targeted at a higher rate than men. There is a need for more reform and legislation to hold individuals accountable for participating in these crimes. We need to develop an affordable and easy-to-use technology that can detect hidden devices. Additionally, we need to inform buyers and consumers that electronic devices such as televisions, phones, tablets, and other electronic devices can be spied on. It is important to warn consumers about the possibility of being secretly recorded without their knowledge when using these devices.

Stalking and Online Bullying

In my own experience of stalking, there is a group of men who constantly harass me. The videos they continuously display on my feed make me aware of this. The act of stalking is now practiced in online bullying and harassment. In order to verify these stalkers and harassers as hate groups, more laws need to be passed. They operate in groups and harass each other online constantly. These social media platforms need to be assessed in terms of how they allow harassment through ads and video manipulation.

All Men and Women Were Created Equal

According to the Declaration of Independence, all men are created equal. The adjustment should refer to the fact that men and women were created with value and purpose that shouldn't be limited by their gender and skin color.

Women in the Workforce

When the men were deployed to fight in World War II, women proved that they were capable of working in the job force. Global tensions continue to rise, so we need to make sure our women are well equipped to take on STEM jobs dominated by men. Promoting and advocating for more women and girls to get education in these fields is the only way we can achieve this. In order for women to excel in these energies, glass ceilings must be broken. More grants and educational programs geared towards advancing women in these fields can ensure that.

Education

Teaching Dual Languages in Elementary School

Over the course of American History, our educational system has undergone major reforms, and now it's time for a new one. Due to the growing number of immigrants, we must ensure that ESL classes are provided to both American and foreign students in elementary schools. Dual learning makes our students more competitive in the future as we continue to integrate cultures. Currently, American students are falling behind in global competition, and learning a new language early can help them become more competitive.

STEAM and Career Paths in High School

The importance of bringing coding, programming, and AI into the classroom cannot be overstated. Integrated learning should be more prevalent in our high schools. There are currently career tech schools, but we can expand this concept by creating high schools that focus on STEAM. By allowing students to take a lot of prerequisites in high school and earning college credit, we can cut the cost of college. We should have career-oriented programs in high schools, like a mini community college. In this way, students won't feel as if they need to excel in every academic area, and can focus on their direct skill sets in which they can excel.

By focusing on the core subjects of reading, writing, math, science, history, and physical education during the first two years of high school, students can then apply for a career path program during the last two years. Based on GPA, teacher recommendations, and an essay, you can set basic merits for acceptance into the programs. By doing so, students can avoid the additional costs of college prerequisites and can go straight into their degree program. A bachelor's degree can be earned in two years instead of four. It is not that students are shortening their study time, but rather they are getting a head start in high school, which can ultimately lower their student loan debt. Despite the government's unwillingness to help students reduce their student loans, schools are still needed for students to remain competitive. It's time to offer our future students an opportunity to avoid obsessive college debt and still obtain a great education.

Student Testing

Taking tests is a great way to gauge the progress of our students and measure accountability, but there are also disadvantages to taking tests. A student's performance on one end-of-the-year assessment should not determine whether he or she will graduate. One state test should not disqualify or be a qualifying factor in determining an individual's acquisition of knowledge over the school year if they have maintained good grades and passed other district tests. Many students experience stress and anxiety during testing. Students are under a lot of pressure when asked to recall everything they learned all year and apply that knowledge to an end-of-year assessment. Additionally, some students have to take multiple assessments, which means that they must prepare for multiple state tests. The majority of adults are not even capable of doing this.

There are some students who are able to pass them all, but many are unable to. I think it is only fair that you require a ⅔ method. Hence, if a student has a passing grade in the class overall, and has passed at least one district test, that should be used to determine their understanding of what they have learned. One test cannot determine all that a student knows, so it is unfair to expect it to do so.

State Mandated Testing Questions
Testing should also be simplified. Often, when educators get together to create a test, they don't take into account that we're creating a test for middle school students, not one for college students. We do not want to trick students with questioning formats, but rather to verify that they understand what they have learned during the school year.

Gifted Students and Equity
The gifted test (CogAT) was developed by a psychologist who studied animal behavior. A new standard in testing must be developed that is more realistic with human nature and conducted by psychologists and educators who are familiar with keen intelligence and high abilities.
