Justice for Kenzie Houk

The Issue

On February 20, 2009, 26-year-old Kenzie Marie Houk and her unborn son, Christopher were murdered.

Authorities ruled her death a homicide. Police determined that Houk was killed with a single shot in the back of the head with a youth model shot gun. A 20-gauge shot gun shell casing was found next to the family’s driveway. Investigators believed with substantial evidence, that the son of Houk’s fiancé, Jordan Brown, who was 11-years-old at the time, had committed the murder.

Brown and his dad, Christopher, lived with Houk and her two small daughters in a farmhouse in a rural western Pennsylvania town of Wampum, where the father often took his son hunting.

Houk’s 7-year-old daughter told police she saw Brown quickly cover something in a blue blanket. The blanket was found at the scene with a singed, quarter-sized hole. In addition, Houk’s daughter said she also witnessed Brown drop something on the ground from his pocket before they got on the bus, which was where the spent shotgun shell was found.

Before the murder, there were multiple accounts of Houk being uncomfortable and tormented by Brown. The morning of her murder, Houk had asked Brown’s father if he could stay home from work with her.

Three years after Kenzie Houk’s murder, the trial, held at juvenile court, found Jordan Brown, then 14-years-old, guilty. Brown’s lawyers appealed the conviction, which resulted in an overturning by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. In July 2018, Jordan Brown was set free.

I am seeking justice for Kenzie Marie Houk, her unborn son, Christopher, and their loved ones. Her case deserves to be reopened and reinvestigated.

On July 1, 2020 Jordan Brown and his father filed a lawsuit against retired state police investigators and officials seeking personal damages, but neither have made a single attempt in seeking justice for Kenzie Houk and their unborn son. Suspicious.

Please sign the petition below to urge the courts to reopen Kenzie Marie Houk’s case and get justice.
