This petition is fuelled by the heart-wrenching incidents of sexual assault in various parts of India, like Rj kar and Pune, as well as the infamous Nirbhaya case. We, who once marched together in candlelight vigils, demand a significant change in the judiciary and law enforcement systems.

In India, a woman is raped every 15 minutes, as per the latest report by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). Despite such alarming statistics, the conviction rate remains terribly low, creating a sense of impunity among offenders.

We urge the government to implement the death penalty for violent sexual offenders. Furthermore, we insist that the judgment of such cases be expedited within 21 days to prevent dismay and frustration caused by lengthy court proceedings. We also propose that the execution of the sentence be broadcasted publicly on National TV to serve as a formidable deterrent against such heinous crimes.

The pain of victims and their families is unimaginable, and their struggle for justice often drags on for years. We believe this law reform could be a progressive step towards ensuring women's safety and upholding justice in our nation.
