Today marks 100 days since we launched the first ever episode of the School of Social Justice video podcast! Here's what we've done in that time:
- Recruited 2 new directors
- Secured 2 grants from foundations and trusts
- Recruited a team of 4 people
- Received 10 one-time donations
- Recruited 10 senior advisors
- Published 13 interviews with leaders
- Backed by 50 patrons
- Got our first 100 subscribers on YouTube
- Over 200 hours of view-time on YouTube
- Got our first 240 followers on LinkedIn
- Got 7,000 views on YouTube
- Got over 23,000 views of our website
- Received over 700,000 impressions
This is our first step: we have a long way to go to achieve our mission of training the next generation of Martin Luther Kings. I am pleased with what has been a strong start to our journey. And I am excited by what we could achieve over the next 100 weeks, 100 months, and 100 years!
To celebrate this occasion, over the next couple of days we'll be sharing messages from people who have been impacted by the school's work so far (check these out on our social media channels via our Linktree: https://linktr.ee/schoolofsocialjustice For now, I just want to take a moment to thank those who have been crucial in our early days:
- Our inaugural teachers: Wayne Michael Caines, Liana Nanang, Emma Howard, Utkarsh Amitabh, Sarah Smith, Kat Tchernavskikh, Kirk-Anthony Hamilton, Jasmine Lawrence, Cllr Mete Coban MBE, Daniel Samosir Botcherby, and Alyssa Petersel.
- Our patrons, donors, and funders.
- Our team: Louis, Noah, Sophie, Rich, and Ravi.
- Our advisors: Marvin Jay Alvarez, Symeon Brown, Lizz Warner, Nizam Uddin OBE, Wikash Tahloe, Lucie Kerley, Kim Kovacevic, Bilal Zaidi, Barney Worfolk Smith, Krishan Meetoo, Kian Katanforoosh, and Saba Mohebpour.
Without them and you, none of this would be possible.
It has only been 100 days. Imagine what we could do together, in the future: with a smart strategy, grit, teamwork, joy, and hard work, anything is possible. Absolutely anything. I look forward to taking the next step with you all, as we work to achieve our vision of a world where anybody can learn how to change the world. This is just the beginning.
In a world where millions of people face a cost of living crisis, where economies face recession, a time when major countries are at war, where social injustices remain, we have two options: Stand idly by, and let things happen. Or. Stand up and find out what role we can play, and take steps to learn how to strengthen our ability to make our societies more just. We choose to stand.
