Dear Elgato/Corsair, Please let users disable the green check on Stream Deck multi actions
The Issue
Dear Elgato/Corsair,
We know you love being at the cutting edge of making fantastic products for your users. However, as fans of a lot of your products, some of us can't help but feel that a lot of your online presence is, unfortunately, kind of "just for show". A by-product of modern-day society (gotta have that web presence, I guess).
Many early adopters of the stream deck, have requested for a feature to be disabled (or at the very least, for the user to have control over it) for quite a few years now. During this time, many users have submitted countless requests through the appropriate channels as guided by your online teams and seen no real action on your behalf.
While, of course, you as a company have no obligation to listen and implement user suggestions - As someone who has seen many companies build followings and then lose them slowly by ignoring the very people that brought them up (and listening to corporate business boneheads that jump from company to company) - we can't help but think that this is just bad business practice. In other words, if you won't listen to the people that have a vested interest in making the products you've brought to the table even better. Then it's probably just a matter of time before some other company does.
What this means for you is that on a small scale sure, you might lose a few customers. But, on a larger scale, you'll lose the respect and loyalty of the people who have chosen to invest in your company - since apparently, there's not much we can really do to have our voices be heard.
We don't want this - We're simple creatures, all we really want is a very small (seriously tiny) patch. A patch that would allow users to toggle whether or not the green checkmark that pops up and sticks around for a while when you run multi actions shows up or not. We want customization. Also, a dedicated forum where users could share their uses, strategies and formally submit feature requests would be incredible (but one thing at a time ;) ).
The famous green checkmark in question (Image provided by user u/ruizit0 on reddit.com)
The stream deck may have initially started as a tool for streamers but its range can go so far beyond that. A lot of us know this and also think that it'd be wise for you as a company to listen to all of the different branches of people using it. People want to create and the Stream Deck is a wonderful innovation for facilitating that in so many ways.
I, Eric (the guy writing this) believe that it's foolish to think that the main selling point of this wonderful piece of hardware is simply streaming. As someone who has helped and encouraged many people in many different industries to implement stream decks into their workflows, to further facilitate their day-to-day lives and operations, I can tell you for a fact. There is a much larger market than the one you are currently targeting. If you'd listen more to the people, you might realize that.
So please, listen to us. Not always, but sometimes we just might know what we're talking about
Kindly, the internet.
Proof of previous requests for this one single feature (probably not even all of them):
