Cal Poly SLO has a growing amount of electric scooters by the day. Electric scooters are an efficient and environmentally friendly way to get from class to class. Electric scooters can easily share the bike lane and follow the California Vehicle Code. We would appreciate a consideration from the dean of students to lift the ban on electric scooters to make our campus a better place.

Reasons why we believe that Cal Poly SLO should allow electric scooters onto campus:

• Environmentally friendly causing no greenhouse gas emission.
• The California DMV allows scooters to be ridden in bicycle paths and would follow the DMV rules https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/vehicle-registration/new-registration/motorcycles-mopeds-and-scooters/.
• Convenient for Cal Poly SLO students to go from class to class.
• Fewer cars on the road for other students/faculty who need to drive and park on campus
