Michael Hickman was the dean of students at Belleview High School. He hurt his shoulder that he recently had surgery on while breaking up a fight between two students. When he was sent to the district workman's comp doctor, they found marijuana in his urine sample that he gave. Which he has a card to get the medical marijuana legally. He has the card because he was  diagnosed with PTSD from serving in operation desert storm. (He always used it in the privacy of his home, never at work.) The students at Belleview High enjoy having him as their dean. Governor Ron DeSantis made smoke able medical marijuana legal when he entered office. If you can smoke it has a medicine, then why are you able to be fired for using you medicine the way it is prescribed to you? After being placed on leave without pay, Marion County superintendent Dr. Heidi Maier recommend that his employment be terminated based on their findings. Hickman and his lawyer, have requested a fair hearing, but that could take up to a whole year before he is granted a fair hearing. He does not have that long to wait to find out if he is allowed to keep his job, or if he will never be allowed to work in the county, state, or even as a teacher ever again.
