From 2012, students at UWA will no longer be able to major in Gender Studies (formerly known as Womens Studies). We believe this is a travesty.

The dedicated staff at the school of Womens Studies are working hard to have the major reinstated in 2013 and they have our support.

Gender Studies makes an invaluable contribution to both academia and society at large. It is essential to advancing marginalised discourses. Not only does it critique and challenge relationships between women and men, but it genuinely and consistently addresses other progressive issues such as racism, classism and homophobia.

Please sign our petition to show your support for the Gender Studies discipline. An email will be sent to UWA's Vice Chancellor, the Dean of Arts and the Guild President reminding them why we value the study of womens oppression!

Ask them to ensure that all current and future students have the option to major in this vital and valuable field of study!
