De Anza College is widely known for their drivers and lack of parking spaces. At the beginning of Summer 2016, the Flint Parking Garage was closed down, and the drop-and-go parking became available Fall 2017. From the inevitable complains of unavailable parking spaces, students began to take matters into their own hands and decided to park wherever possible. This has led to many additional accidents around campus, including hit and runs.

This petition was created to increase student safety throughout De Anza College. By signing this petition, we hope to implement a permanent and easily accessible emergency hotline, an increase in parking police monitoring and eventually surveillance cameras. 

While some may believe that surveillance cameras do not prevent crime, our intentions are to be able to hold those at fault, accountable for their actions. We, De Anza College students and teachers, have all been victims to minor and some, major, hit and runs, car accidents and more, and we're tired of hearing, "There is nothing we can do".
