DCFS Workers Must Wear Body Cameras — No More Secret Visits

DCFS Workers Must Wear Body Cameras — No More Secret Visits

The Issue

Our children and families deserve transparency and accountability.

DCFS (Department of Child and Family Services) has the power to enter homes, remove children, and make life-altering decisions — often with no video or audio record of what actually happens during these visits. Too many families have reported aggressive tactics, misrepresentation of facts, or outright misconduct with zero evidence to hold anyone accountable.

Me being someone who has personally went through it. Being put off as a person who doesn’t want to comply because I was exercising my rights. Especially in a case where I was being accused of false things. But DCFS and CPS being able to rewrite everything I said and did, with 0 camera footage or audio to prove differently. Those agencies take advantage of having this edge. And judges siding with DCFS & CPS almost 100% of the time because of their position in government. Not because of their amount of evidence.

Body cameras protect everyone:

•  They protect innocent families from false allegations

•  They protect children by creating an accurate record

•  They protect good caseworkers from false accusations

• They protect children from being ignored when in a state sponsored group home or out of home settings

•They protect against children being manipulated by case managers when the case holds no value

and 100 other things…

It’s 2026. Police wear body cams. Schools have cameras. Why does DCFS & CPS get to operate with zero oversight?

We demand every DCFS & CPS worker wear an activated body camera during all home visits, removals, and family interactions ect. Utah gives these agencies more protection from accountability than our  whole law enforcement. We need to at least require the same amount of oversight.  Singing this even if you aren’t from Utah can help spark some of the same actions in your area. I’m more than willing to do these things in other states. This should already be a national requirement.
