Michael Shumway Lee is a distinguished American lawyer and politician who has been serving as the senior United States Senator from Utah since 2011. A dedicated member of the Republican Party, Lee became Utah's senior senator in 2019 and the dean of Utah's congressional delegation in 2021. Born and raised in Utah, he graduated from Timpview High School and pursued higher education at Brigham Young University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a Juris Doctor from the J. Reuben Clark Law School.
