The Issue

Bonjour! Salam! Hello DC Mayor Bowser,

In Trump’s first term (2018), when El Salvador’s TPS was threatened, Mayor Bowser mobilized — and TPS was saved.
Now, in Trump’s second term (2025), Cameroon's TPS is being cut, and Mayor Bowser is silent.
Here’s the updated Version #2 petition including this critical historical point:

#SaveCameroonTPS #BringAjuaHomeToDC: Mayor Bowser, End Anti-Africanness — Act Now!
Sign this petition to demand urgent action from Mayor Muriel Bowser, who has perpetuated anti-Africanness in D.C.'s immigration policies by ignoring the suffering of Cameroonian immigrants. We demand an emergency meeting, a fact-finding mission, and justice for Augustine Forka Ajua and all Black immigrants in our city!

The Crisis
Augustine Forka Ajua — a U.S. citizen, a father of two, a senior community member from D.C. — is suffering in a Cameroonian prison.

If it can happen to Augustine, it can happen to any Cameroonian TPS holder in D.C. — and now President Trump is cutting TPS for Cameroon, putting hundreds more at immediate risk of deportation, detention, and death.

Despite this emergency:

Mayor Bowser and the D.C. Council remain silent.
The Mayor's Office on African Affairs refused action, even during National African Immigrant Heritage Month.
Black African immigrants are devalued and disregarded — while Mayor Bowser once traveled internationally to defend others, she will not even cross D.C. to meet with Cameroonian families.
Mayor Bowser has perpetuated anti-Africanness in her immigration response — treating Black immigrants as expendable while championing others.

The Shameful Contrast: El Salvador vs. Cameroon
In Trump’s first term (2018), when TPS for El Salvador was on the chopping block,
Mayor Bowser mobilized every resource — traveling to El Salvador, holding public events, lobbying federal officials.
Result: Trump backed down. TPS for El Salvador was saved.

Now, in Trump’s second term (2025), TPS for Cameroon is being terminated — and Mayor Bowser is silent.
No travel. No public advocacy. No emergency meetings. No urgency.

This clear disparity reveals whose lives are prioritized — and whose are abandoned.

The Week of Action: April 26–30, 2025
We will not be silent.
We will not allow anti-Africanness to dictate who is worth fighting for.

During the Week of Action, we will:

Protest daily outside the Wilson Building.
Protest outside Mayor Bowser’s home on Orchid Street.
Flood her office with constituent calls and demands.
Share the stories of Cameroonian families living in fear and heartbreak.
Highlight Cameroonian contributions to D.C.'s economy, culture, and civic life.

Our Demands
We call on Mayor Bowser to:

Hold an emergency meeting with Cameroon American Council leaders during the Week of Action.
Meet face-to-face with Augustine Forka Ajua’s family.
Announce a fact-finding mission to Cameroon to document conditions.
Publicly condemn Trump’s cruel decision to end TPS for Cameroonians.
End the pattern of anti-Africanness in her immigration policies and show Black immigrants are worth fighting for.

Mayor Bowser, Which Side Are You On?
Cameroonian lives are at stake.
History will remember your silence — or your action.

Stand with D.C.’s Black immigrant community.
