Is Amber Heard still in Aquaman 2? Nobody knows for sure, including possibly Heard herself. She hasn't shared any pre-production tidbits like she did when gearing up for the first one. No costume previews, no workout videos with studio professionals, hada. Her timelines are instead filled with old pictures of herself in precarious positions with questionable attire.
Even IF Warner Bros are still considering Heard for the film, there might be a huge monkey wrench set to be thrown into the works. Heard might lose her Visa to enter Australia, where the first one was filmed (and the second likely will be, too).
Heard, you see, is currently under investigation by the Australian department of agriculture for circumstances surrounding the time when Heard smuggled two teacup Yorkies into the country.
“The department is investigating if any criminal offences under Commonwealth legislation have been committed relating to the testimony provided to the High Court in London. Because of the nature of those enquiries we are unable to provide a timeline,” a departmental spokesperson told news.com.au late last year.
“The Department of Home Affairs has the right to reject any application if the individual is under an investigation by our government,” a representative told us. “Although we cannot go into the specifics of Ms Heard’s case, it is very much a possibility that VISA application may be put on hold until the investigation is over. It just depends of the severity of the offence.”
Providing a false document on entry to Australia under the Migration Act is a serious offence that attracts a maximum penalty of 12 months jail and a fine of $10,200. Furthermore, Heard didn’t just lie on her documents, she also lied to the judge and perjury is a far more serious offence and the maximum penalty is 14 years in jail.
She squeaked out of charges at the time, but those events are being investigated. So it's very possible that her application to travel to Australia will be denied, leaving Heard out in the cold for any filming that takes place there.
Is Heard important enough to the film for them to arrange for alternate locations this late in the game? That's questionable, but we'll have to wait and see.
Aquaman 2 is slated to start filming either this month or next (June or July 2021).
