The First-Time Homebuyer Tax Benefit Act has passed, but it NEEDS TO BE FUNDED before it can go into effect. We're working to petition the DC Council in an effort to convince them to locate funding for the Act.

The Act lowers the recordation tax to .725% for DC residents at 180% of the Area Median Income (AMI).

One of biggest barriers to homeownership is significant up-front cost. If we can help lower that up-front cost, we can help DC residents purchase homes instead of continuous renting or moving out to Maryland, which already has a first-time homebuyer tax benefit.
