This statue is extremely offensive and demeaning to the black community. It doesn’t represent freedom at all. African Americans fought and died for their own emancipation and this statue doesn’t even portray that. The image of Lincoln standing over an ex slave is sickening and it takes away from all of the sacrifices African Americans had to make to gain their freedom.
