Daviess County-Access to Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Services

Daviess County-Access to Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Services
The Issue
As a resident of Daviess County, Kentucky, I am deeply saddened by the overpopulation crisis affecting our beloved pets. This is a heartbreaking reality that we can change through accessible spay/neuter services.
The DCACC clinic already offers these essential resources, but because of Daviess County Fiscal Court and disapproval from local vets, not everyone in our county can access those resources now.
When the clinic was in its prime, it welcomed dogs and cats from all counties. Then, it was reduced to only Daviess County residents, and now only Daviess County residents that qualify as low-income. It's time for us to step up and ensure that every pet owner has access to low-cost spay/neuter services.
In 2020 alone, approximately 6.5 million companion animals entered U.S shelters nationwide (source: ASPCA). A significant portion of these animals could have been saved if more pet owners had access to affordable spaying and neutering services.
Our city should be a beacon of hope for animals not just within our county but also beyond its borders. Let's make Daviess County known for its commitment to animal welfare by making low-cost spay/neuter services available for all residents. Other large cities in Kentucky have these resources available to their residents, so why can't we? For being the 4th largest city in Kentucky, we are far behind Louisville, Lexington, and Bowling Green who all have extensive resources for animals in their area.
There is a vet or two in Daviess County that are opposed to everyone having access to spay and neuter resources.... but they're not the ones watching kennels in our shelter fill up day in and day out.
Please sign this petition if you believe in providing affordable spaying and neutering options for all pet owners in Daviess County. Together, we can combat pet overpopulation and save countless lives.
Tell Daviess County Fiscal Court that we want access to resources that our tax dollars paid for. Animal lovers vote too!
