The re opening of Allum Lane Recycling Centre

The Issue

The closure of Allum Lane recycling centre has impacted heavily on Borehamwood and surrounding villages.  There has been an increase in fly tipping and overflowing communal bins attracting rats. This creates additional risk to public health. Potters Bar recycling centre has been re opened with self-distancing and other safety controls in place.  The signatories to this petition are calling for the urgent and swift re-opening of the Allum Lane site with social distancing and any other necessary measures put in place.  We also note the recent announcement that Hertfordshire County Council are to reassume management of recycling centres around the Borough as their private contractors have relinquished the contract. We call upon the County Council to reassure us that no further cuts to opening hours will be implemented.
