Legalisation of Euthanasia In New Zealand

The issue

I believe that the right to life is a right to a life with a minimum quality and value. If the dying process is unpleasant, people should have the right to shorten it, and thus reduce the unpleasantness. And if the action of undergoing euthanasia  promotes the best interests of everyone concerned and violates no one's rights then that action should be considered morally acceptable. This is because some medical conditions are simply so painful and unnecessarily prolonged that the capability of the medical profession to alleviate suffering by means of palliative care is surpassed. Therefore this is a problem for New Zealand because a percentage of our population struggles with terminal illnesses and are not given the opportunity to be able to die with dignity.
