Hi there! I am a 12 year old environmental activist living in Connecticut, USA. With the endless news reports on plastic pollution, I was horrified when my mother received a FreshDirect delivery this week. She received three bags of fruits and vegetables, packaged in so much plastic that this delivery alone filled up our recycling bin. Apples, lettuce, avocados, all of which came in heavy single use plastic containers. My mother has contacted FreshDirect and so far heard nothing back. As a 12 year old, I can’t get the images of plastic floating in the ocean and destroying our planet out of my head. That a family of four could fill a recycling bin full of single use plastic just horrifys me, it just seems so unnecessary.
