** Agriculture Canada must stop dumping wastewater into Dows Lake/World Heritage Site **

The Issue

Please help us to stop AAFC from continuing to discharge considerable volumes of dangerous wastewater into Dows Lake and the Rideau Canal World Heritage Site.

The wastewater originates from groundwater mixing with 40,000 tons of concrete residue buried on site after the 2014 demolition of the 11 story Sir John Carling complex.  The resulting contaminated run-off consists of a cement/lime particulate (Calcium Hydroxide) with a pH of 12.1.

The easily observed outflow is a large drainage pipe approximately 200M South of Dow's Lake Pavilion near Downtown Ottawa.

The purpose of this petition is to garner public support to (1) STOP AAFC/PWGSC from dumping dangerous wastewater into Dows Lake and the Rideau system; and (2) To ensure the environmental remediation necessary to prevent further destruction of this world heritage site.

Thanks for your support,

P&E Larsen
