Dozens of Crown Post Offices across the UK could be shut down, it has emerged in national press this week (wc18/1/16). Bury St. Eds has been selected as one to be closed and moved to a new franchise site. The iconic Cornhill grade listed building has been the home of the Post office in Bury St Edmunds for 120 years, it is the heart of our town centre and should not be sacrificed for greed and profit. The Cornhill Post Office only recently underwent a refurbishment which saw the counter area, training facilities and meeting rooms upgraded at a cost of over a million pounds. The Post Office is a public service, designed to give wonderful customer service, which the counter staff at the Cornhill branch have excelled at. We must fight to keep our Crown office open. This service belongs to the people of this country, it’s our postal system, it’s the Peoples Post. Please sign our petition.
