School a place to learn, to grow, to improve, and to feel safe at. One big issue that conflicts with this academic service that is provided is an environment where smoking and vaping is conducted. The dangerous effects of using these items lead to health risks such as heart diseases, varies types of cancer particularly your lungs, diabetes, and stroke. However they are not limited to just those but also an overall influence on people's lives. This issue is concurrent and big in Sacramento, California. Particularly one school and possibly others here, John F. Kennedy High School where I and some other 2000 students attend face the fact of being in a place where smoking and vaping is performed. Parents face the issue of the well being of their children, student's either deal with smoking or vaping, or deal with others smoking or vaping. We are living in a place where our health is threatened. One important thing to note is that, secondhand smoking in which students who don't vape or smoke inhale accidently while near others that do so is as well dangerous to the same extent. I personally have been a victim of this, and it brought huge concerns to myself, as I one it brought in unknown substances into me and could prove to be hazardous.

What needs to be done to keep students safe is that we need to put more funds into programs, more alternatives for students to choose from. Schools also need to educate students on the health risks and reality of smoking and vaping beforehand, in which this will require a program of itself. But with more education we can get students to deter from smoking and vaping and spend more time learning instead of harming themselves. By making the environment cleaner, it also makes it safer for other students to attend school without having to accidentally or inevitably encounter smoke and vape.

We together can work together to bring change. For the longevity and prosperity of the scholars and the young ones, please sign this petition to making school experiences safer and make the world a better place.
