Dear petition supporters,
Over the past week, I’ve had important conversations with several stakeholders within the RCMP and public safety community who share our concern about how Amber Alerts are handled in high-risk cases. These discussions have helped clarify the challenges frontline officers face when the law limits their ability to act quickly and they’ve reinforced why Darius’s Law must be implemented thoughtfully, with collaboration at every level.
Based on this feedback, we’ve made appropriate updates to the petition to emphasize cooperation and coordination rather than criticism. The revised version now calls for stronger partnerships between law enforcement, community networks, and key industries such as trucking, search-and-rescue, and Indigenous leadership. Together, we can create a faster, smarter, and more unified response when a child goes missing.
We want to thank everyone who has signed, shared, and spoken up so far. Your support is making a real difference, it’s showing our leaders that Canadians are united in the belief that when a child is in danger, every minute matters.
