Detroit Police Commander Darin Szilagyi is not pursuing or upholding his responsibility to manage his employees and their K9s. 

An officer of the Detroit Police Department was conducting a K9 search in a neighborhood when they lost Control / did not maintain control of their dog. The police dog in the video approached the fence and the white dog clearly behind the fence defends it territory as the police K9 dog sticks it’s nose through the fence. Instead of pulling the dog away, he/she pulls their service weapon and shoots the dog. Did the officer have a less lethal option? A baton, pepper spray or taser?

The Officer is not able to control his/her highly trained and aggressive dog. This is not the fault of the owner, but just another example of police using force instead of sensibility and respect. 

This officer should be fired or in the least reprimanded and not allowed to be a K9 handler. 

The dog owner should be financially compensated. Detroit Police Commander Darin Szilagyi should be investigated for bias, and lack of leadership.
