The dangerous intersection at the Altamonte Library, Maitland Avenue and Lake Drive needs to be corrected!

A dangerous intersection exists between Maitland Avenue and Lake Dr in Altamonte Springs, Florida. This intersection is very dangerous as drivers turning left here have their view obstructed by a large sign that blocks the view of incoming traffic. This large sign could lead to a potentially fatal car accident and therefore makes this intersection dangerous. Moreover, the median on Maitland Ave. extends too far into the intersection, preventing cars from staging to turn in the middle of the lane. The purpose of this petition is to allow residents to voice concerns about this dangerous intersection between Maitland Ave. and Lake Dr. 

Since 2016, James Coppens has been trying to get this dangerous intersection fixed. In 2019, The Seminole County road engineers corrected the Maitland/Ellsworth intersection, but not the Maitland/Lake intersection.

In order to fix this dangerous intersection, we are requesting that Altamonte Springs City Government  eliminate the large sign.  We are requesting that Seminole County government  eliminate a portion of the median. These two changes would allow drivers to properly view incoming traffic and to stage to turn South.  These changes would cost an estimated $600, a small price to pay for potentially saving a life.
